Florence, Ariz. – Early this morning, Detectives with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office arrested Johnathan Krieger (47), an Apache Junction High School teacher, for alleged Sexual Conduct with a Minor.
Krieger, a teacher since 2002, has been teaching Science and German at AJ High School since 2005. Krieger also known as John Snell and Johnathan Raye has also been a teacher at Sequoia Charter School in Mesa and Apache Trail High School in Apache Junction.
Detectives began a week and a half long investigation after receiving information from a person who reported they believed there may be a "relationship" between Krieger (of Gold Canyon) and a 16 year old student at AJ High School. The investigation revealed evidence to support the accusations and several warrants were issued to include a search warrant to seize a personal computer at AJ High School where Krieger is employed. Detectives took Krieger into custody early this morning after he left his residence for work.
"Sex crimes against our children will not be tolerated. Our Sheriff's Office will aggressively investigate these reported crimes and pursue justice for our most vulnerable victims. Sexual predators must be stopped," said Sheriff Paul Babeu.
Sheriff Babeu who is a strong advocate for victim's rights is currently pushing state legislation to protect children from sexual predators. Sheriff Babeu praised his Detectives for their thorough investigation and tenacious efforts in ensuring justice in this case. Sheriff Babeu commented, "This case is particularly troubling, since it involves a teacher, a man entrusted with the well being of our children. There is no justification for someone who chooses to violate that sacred trust."
Krieger was arrested and booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Facility in Florence and is being held with a $250,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing and detectives encourage anyone with information to contact the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Person Crimes Unit. |
