Today Publications In the age of the "Great Recession" small businesses are struggling just to get by. To help them reach new customers, Bashas' Supermarkets across the valley are hosting monthly open air markets. These markets give vendors a chance to hawk their wares in a concentrated well trafficked area and it doesn't cost them a penny. Bobby Kraus, manager of the Gold Canyon Bashas', explained that in these tough times Bashas' wants to do all it can to support its communities. "Bashas' said you had a friend and that's what they mean." he remarked. The Bashas' located at 5310 S. Superstition Mtn. Dr. hosted its second open air market on Saturday Jan. 30, 2010. The event hosted approximately 30 vendors and ran from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Children delighted at the petting zoo as well as the bouncy castle and the bravest among them tackled the rock climbing wall. The market was host to a wide variety of products from health food cookbooks to hotdogs with more toppings than the average supreme pizza. This frankfurter feast goes by the name Sonora Dog, and it was recently featured on Food Network's Man V. Food. |
