Florence, AZ--Curis Resources Ltd. President and CEO Michael McPhie announced three new management appointees on July 12, 2010. Further expanding the team of Arizonans behind the Florence Copper Project in central Arizona.
“One of Curis’ key development principles is that our business activities must be complementary to existing businesses, land uses and lifestyles in the communities in which we operate, while providing meaningful benefits for local people,” McPhie said. “One of the best ways to ensure that we achieve those community development goals is by recruiting talented local people into key management positions, which is exactly what we are doing at the Florence Copper Project.” McPhie announced that longtime Florence resident and Pinal County business leader Dolores (Dodi) Freeman has joined Curis as Community Affairs Advisor. Former Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce President and Executive Director Rustyn Sherer has joined the company as Manager of Community Relations and veteran Arizona mining executive Mark Distler has also joined Curis as Corporate Controller. A former senior executive and 28‐year employee of the Pinal County Federal Credit Union, Dodi Freeman is a long time community volunteer who has lived and worked in Florence all her life. She currently serves on the Pinal County Health Department Board of Directors, and is a longstanding Rotarian and member of the Coolidge/Florence Elks Lodge. As Community Affairs Advisor, Dodi will be part of a team that is responsible for Curis’ outreach and corporate relations with residents, elected officials, businesses and government leaders. A former small business advocate and industry analyst, Rustyn Sherer holds a MBA from the University of Arizona and has been active in the central Arizona business community since 2000. As Community Relations Manager, Rustyn will be responsible for leading Curis’ outreach efforts with local landowners, Florence and Pinal County residents and other stakeholder groups. Mark Distler has more than 26 years of financial leadership experience within the Arizona and global copper industry. Formerly CFO of Frontera Copper Corporation, Mark comes to Curis having also held a series of increasingly important financial positions at Freeport McMoran (Phelps Dodge Corporation). Currently a resident of Scottsdale, Mark will be responsible for all financial management, reporting and administrative functions for Curis in Arizona. “We’re extremely pleased with the caliber of individuals we’ve recruited to the Florence Copper Project team,” said McPhie. “I think it bodes well for the project’s future success, and for Curis’ ability to meet its corporate commitments to design, build and operate a world class next generation copper project that respects local priorities and concerns, while delivering substantial local benefits.” Curis Resources Ltd. is a private mineral development company associated with the Hunter Dickinson (HDI) group of companies. For more than 25 years, HDI has been among Canada’s most successful and progressive independent mine developers and operators, with producing mines and late‐stage development projects around the world. The Florence Copper Project is an initiative of Curis Resources Ltd. to develop a world‐class in‐situ copper recovery (ISCR) operation in Florence, Arizona.
